Complete thoracic ectopia cordis

Abstract
|
|
|
Six hours old neonate was operated for complete thoracic ectopia cordis. Left lower lobectomy was done and ectopic heart was returned into the left thoracic cavity.
Patient died with deepening cyanosis and bradycardia 3 hours after operation. Autopsy findings were as follows:
1) Persistent left superior vena cava
2) Patent ductus arteriosus (ID. 0. 6cm)
3) Patent foramen ovale
4) Atrial Septal defect
5) Ventricular Septal defect
6) Hypoplasia of left atrium
7) Hypertrophy and dilatation of right ventricle
8) Sternum bifidum
9) Rib, 11 pairs
